We have holidays

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sergey @ 11:27 pm

Today we have one (which I will not name ;) ) holiday, and for tomorrow, we have another one.

Russia’s president, Dmitry Medvedev, has decreed a new holiday for our country: Programmer’s Day. Appropriately enough, it will be celebrated on the 256th day of the year: September 13th (September 12th for a leap year).

So great weekend really!
And do you have programmer’s day?

Keeping in contact with visitors

Filed under: Thoughts — Sergey @ 3:51 am

The blog is driven by wishes to tell more about us and be more responsive. Sometimes it is really hard.
Still the desire to be in more contact with visitors presents. We are relatively small team, so I believe that telling about us will be enlightening.

New chapter in online video

Filed under: Thoughts — Sergey @ 12:58 am

Tomorrow FireFox 3.5 is out. This is an important news due to the fact that it is the most popular browser to support new HTML video tag. There are also Chrome, Opera and Safari but still new FireFox is really important.

We still have to wait to see if theora ( and theora 1.1 encoder which is due to be out in late october ) could compete with h264 as a most used format for online video. But at least there will be a tough fight. And with some sites like thevideobay.org directly promoting theora ( as well as wikipedia ) who knows maybe it wins.

So interesting times start for online video tomorrow. Be prepared and check new FireFox.

We, from our side, will keep a close look at what happens on the market and will provide more support for theora if it gets a good ground on the Net.

How streaming could change online shopping?

Any online shop owner knows that customers would like to see objects in 3D, still any Web3d applications were too slow for average PC, and they could not provide rich experience.

But here is a catch. Now the content could be rendered and sent to flashplayer. Of cause, there would be a slight delay ( usually 1-2 sec for h264 video ) in response to user actions, still user would be able to observe all the details of sold items. With new raytracing engines from nvidia and intel which about to appear soon, user will be immersed in photo-realistic scenes.

Also, without any need to have Skype or any such tools users would be able to ask questions online and get videofeedback from sales representatives just visiting a page. All what a customer would need – is to have a microphone.

Finally I would note, that all the describe capabilities could be provided by our team.
